Camp Valor Outdoors is wrapping up the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) National Matches at Camp Perry, OH.
>br> Post 1503 member Dan Duitsman won the M1 Garand Unlimited Rifle National Championship AND the Springfield M1A Rifle National Championship. A seasoned competitor, Dan was a member of the Marine Weapons Training Battalion at Quantico, VA, while on Active Duty. Post 1503 member, Clifton Peele, shot his first National Championships this year with Camp Valor Outdoors experiencing the excitement of shooting on a firing line exceeding 1,000 competitors and learning to fire in many different conditions - heat, rain, wind, and keeping a good attitude through it all.
The CMP National Matches bring together the top military and civilian competitors from across the country, as well as a few International competitors at Camp Perry, OH, each year. The National Championships were from July 28th through August 4th. Post 1503 had two members participating in the matches. The miles (one way) to the matches at Camp Perry is 437. Other organization include many State Associations, the National Garand Collectors Association, and Junior shooting programs. Safety briefs were given each day at the start of competition by the CMP staff personnel.

Do Not Let Congress Balance the Budget on the Backs of Retirees
Background: TRICARE enrollment fees and other cost shares were recently changed. As a result, military retirees who entered the military after January 1, 2018, will generally be required to pay more for TRICARE benefits than current military retirees. Military retirees were exempt from most increases in recognition that they have kept their end of the bargain. Now, Congress would like to change the terms of its deal with military retirees by removing that exemption and significantly increasing TRICARE costs for current retirees. The VFW needs your help in defeating this harmful proposal which would require military retirees to pay more for their earned health care.
Take Action: Contact your Senators and Representative to demand that they reject any proposal that would result in TRICARE fee increases for current beneficiaries, and tell them that they must not balance the budget on the backs of military retirees.
